Young ADAPT Awards this month
Places are still up for grabs on the Youth and Junior ADAPT awards coming up in the next few weeks.
ADAPT Junior, for ages 7-10, will take place on the 9th April at Chainstore. ADAPT Youth, for ages 11-15, will be on the 10th April at the Laura Trott Leisure Centre, Windmill Lane, Hertfordshire.
ADAPT Junior is an early years stage award which helps to introduce and promote the ADAPT principles of movement excellence and core parkour competencies at an early age. The focus at the Junior Award level is on the child’s ability to perform basic movements, such as jumps, rolls, crawls, vaults, tic-tacs and landings, with a good level of technical skill. Assessment is carried out as a group throughout the day.
ADAPT Youth is for those young practitioners looking to further develop their parkour practice and demonstrate competence. As with ADAPT Junior, assessment is throughout the day, but candidates are expected to have a fair level of movement ability before they undertake this certification. General attitude to training will also be assessed, including attentiveness, enthusiasm and how candidates interact with other students.
First offered late last year, these awards are the first of their type and offer recognition of the achievements of the younger members of the parkour community, many of whom train with great dedication and fantastic attitudes, as well as the chance to develop themselves further.
