This Weekend at Parkour Generations
The week is over, but the work has just begun. We have a whole host of workshops and classes planned for this weekend, with a bit of performance thrown in for good measure.
We’ll be demonstrating the strength of parkour at the World Power Show tomorrow and Sunday. We’ll be running workshops alongside bodybuilders, powerlifters, martial artists and more – and the Performance Team will be showcasing their skill and grace at 12:00pm and 4:00pm tomorrow, and 4:00pm Sunday.
Tomorrow is also the London Youth Games finals at Crystal Palace. We will be running open workshops in the park. These are entirely free, so feel free to pop in and say hi.
Flynn and Shirley will be back in Stratford tomorrow for more Active People, Active Parks workshops. 10:00 to 11:00 is for families (children aged 1 to 6, along with their parents), followed by a session for ages 7 to 15 at 11:15 to 12:15. They will round off the afternoon with an adult session (16 and up) from 12:30. Meetup for all sessions is at West Park Walk, East Village.
None of this will distract us from our normal class schedule. The Saturday Morning Beginners’ Class will be at Canada Water this week with James and Kevin. Meetup is by the benches outside the library – please be on time for a 10:30am start.
The Sunday Morning Weekend Wakeup, led by the dynamic duo of Blane and Andy, is also at Canada Water. Meetup is 11:00am – again, please be on time and ready to go. We guarantee you’ll be awake very, very soon.
OCT:Trail (Saturday and OCT:Assault (Sunday) are on at Chainstore from 3:00pm to 5:00pm as usual. These are great for helping you to use your parkour skills effectively to excel at obstacle course races ranging from Spartan Race to Urban Ninja. And if you have no urge to compete, they will give you a new perspective on applying your skills in different situations. Adaptability is key!
Our weekend youth classes are on at 10:00am on Saturday and 11:30am on Sunday. Juwad, Alex and Chris Z will be putting practitioners aged 7 – 15 through their paces. Be on time and bring plenty of water, because it’s likely to get energetic.
For the younger ones and their parents/guardians, our unique Family Class will be on at 11:00am on Sunday at St Augustine’s Sports Centre. Parents and children up to 6 years old will train together in the same environment along with expert coach Leon.
As always, please prebook for classes. They can get very busy, and in order to maintain a good coach to student ratio and a safe environment, we cannot guarantee a place for last-minute drop-ins.
