Rendezvous XI Complete!
This past weekend saw the original annual international parkour gathering that is Rendezvous have its 11th round, this time being the Barefoot Edition! And it was simply awesome.
The 3 days focused on learning about the biomechanics of the foot and experiencing movement training without the assistance of modern footwear. We explored this both in urban and rural environments, with workshops and modules run by elite parkour coaches from the UK and around the world as well as special barefoot experts.
Blessed with fantastic weather, the event brought practitioners in to London from all over the world as always to share in three days of training, movement, knowledge and experience. Many have already said that RDVXI was the best one yet, which we’re very happy to hear – our aim is to constantly improve everything we do, and year on year Rendezvous continues to get better and better.
We’d like to thank special guests Yann Hnautra of France, one of the founders of parkour itself, barefoot experts Jessi Stensland and Karl Sterling from the United States, international parkour coaches Marcello Palozzo of Italy, Sasa Sevo of Croatia, Stany Thierrynovitch Boulifard Mallet of France and Evan Beyer of Parkour Generations Americas, as well as all the fantastic coaching team from the UK – Andy Pearson, Alex Pownall, Chris Rowat, Shirley Darlington-Rowat, Chris Keighley, Leon Lawrence, Hector Hurmuz-Sklias, Chris Zarkadoulas and Dan Edwardes. We’d also like to thank all the support staff from the Developing Athletes Programme, James Adams in event logistics and the media masters behind the cameras Andy ‘Kiell’ Day, Juwad Malik and Jolade Olunsaya.
Most of all though we’d like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part and travelled from near of far to jump, crawl, swing, vault, climb and run with us – no community in the world like it!
