Art of Retreat
The event was a great success, with presentations from within and without the parkour world, including a deep-dive by Dan Edwardes into the psychophysical realities and biochemistry of fear, and how positive cycles of confidence can be built through considered practice, inner dialogue and emotional intelligence. From the USA team Marcus Lincoln presented on fundamental parkour concepts, and Evan Beyer led a skills session on partner-work and game construction. One of the highlights of the event this year was the introduction of Night Missions, led by Dan and PKGen Americas leaders Adam McClellan, Andy Keller, Blake Evitt in collaboration with a US Special Forces SERE Trainer. Needless to say these were a big hit and got everyone out and moving through the amazing woodland scenery of Washington State.
We’d like to say a big WELL DONE to the AoR organising team of Caitlin Pontrella, Adam McClellan and Alan Tran, and we look forward to being there again next year.
